| Campaign summary |
From April until July 2008, Workplace Inspectors audited employers from the Child Care and Aged Care sectors. We conducted these compliance audits in response to complaints received from workers in these sectors.
Our audits of 179 businesses in the Aged Care sector, found 21% to be in breach of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 (the Act). We expect to recover $114,209 from these employers, on behalf of 480 workers.
The audits we conducted into 313 employers in the Child Care sector revealed that 16% have breached the Act. $41,107 is due to be recovered for 120 employees. By undertaking this campaign, we have assisted employers to better understand and comply with their obligations under federal workplace laws. |
